Welcome to The First Cut Barber School, where we proudly offer the State of Illinois minimum required 1500-Hour Barber Program.
As part of our comprehensive curriculum, students are immersed in a balanced blend of practical, hands-on training and state board-focused classroom instruction. With a keen focus on success, our program ensures that students not only meet the required hours but also complete one thousand various barber services in practice before graduation.

In Illinois, barbers must be licensed by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. The licensing requirements for barbers include:
-Being at least 16 years of age;
-Completion of a 1,500 hour program of study at an approved barber school;
-Passage of an examination; and,
payment of a fee.

Currently we do not offer financial aid. Scholarships are available in various amounts and are dependent upon need. Please speak with the school to find out more information regarding scholarships.

Upon program completion, we will discuss job assistance options and take diligent steps to connect you with companies currently seeking candidates.

After completing barber school, there are several continuing education options to further enhance your skills and stay updated with industry trends. Some of these include:

The program is approximately 10 months with a 1500 hours requirement.
